Teaching as bunk beds are built for an orphanage
|
Ever
heard the saying, "give a man a fish and you'll feed him
for a day, teach him how to fish and you'll feed him for life?"
|
| Handouts
will never solve the problems related to poverty. That's why at
Joy of a Child, we firmly believe the best solution is to teach
the children skills. Whenever our teams are making improvements
to an orphanage or children's home we always like for the children
to help us. |
In
most orphanages, usually around the age of 18, a young boy or girl
is told that he or she must leave the orphanage. Being forced to
leave the orphanage can be a very traumatic experience if they are
not prepared to enter society.
Without job skills, most will commit crimes or become involved in
illegal drug trafficking in order to survive. The girls are especially
vulnerable and will often times be forced into prostitution in order
to buy food and have a place to live. |

Young men are eager

Children look on as a team member stains wood
|
Your
support of Joy of a Child will create opportunity for these children
to make a better life for themselves and have the chance to become
outstanding citizens in their communities.
At Joy of a Child we love these
children and believe they have the potential to achieve something
great. They just need somebody
to believe in them, will that person be you?
