Becky_Romania.jpgI believe that a sense of adventure lies in everyone, and with each adventure comes a certain degree of risk.

Before departing for Romania I had two lines of thinking. One was, " do I base my expectations of this trip on all the bad stories I’ve heard about Eastern Europe," or "do I go trusting God and allow Him to take me into places that will open my understanding to the way he sees this part of the world."

"If I would have listened to my first thoughts I probably would have built up so much fear within myself I probably would have stayed home."

The flight to Romania was long and required three airline boardings. The longest was the flight from Memphis, Tennessee to Amsterdam, Netherlands.

I was traveling with Rebecca Graham, President of Fundatia Seceris, who spends about 9 months out of each year in Campulung, Romania caring for as many orphans as she can with the resources she has available. It is a daunting task when your resources only allow you to care for about 100 orphans in a city that has over 3,000 orphaned children.

I thank God for people like Rebecca who choose to devote some, if not all of their lives to playing a positive role in the lives of others, making the kind of difference that can change the future course of a nation.

The night before visiting one of the orphanages in Campulung, we prepared peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Then early the next morning nearly 350 eggs were cracked and scrambled and taken with the sandwiches to feed the children.

After the children had eaten we gathered in a classroom where a Sunday School class was held. The background of each child in this orphanage, like so many, is a past of abuse and neglect.

We observed several children with outward manifestations of inward phsycological problems. There is no other answer for some of these children than the power of God and I am so thankful that there is healing in the name of Jesus. He is able to touch these children and make them completely whole.

Please remember the children of Romania in your prayers and pray that more missionaries would be sent to this part of the world to express God's love for the children and the people of Romania.
